Hatha Yoga Strengthen the body and mind together by combining with mantra. Makes it more supple and encourages the balance within the body and mind.  In fact, Hatha Yoga combined with chanting of OM mantra , visualization of symbol and physical movements. Combination of such  Yoga mantra and visualization with different permutation brings different result to the desired  seeking.  Tamil siddhar says that “Visualization, chanting of mantra and Yoga positions creates the discipline to achieve realization”

Hatha Yoga basically contains three part, Breathing technique, OM chanting or repetition of mantra (word) and  visualization of symbols or pictures.  During normal physical exercises we don’t need to concentrate on what we are doing. But in hatha yoga the body movement has been performed with full concentration and ofcourse non-competitively. Perhaps! Achievement of a expertise in particular asana may be pleasing to students and teachers. But if you watch them carefully the  specialization is attained through series of well rehearsed physical movements or exercises.

Mantra helps with concentration through the repetition of sound, as does yantra through the observation of a picture or symbol. Both mantra and yantra can be practiced physically, or can be purely mental, showing the overlap between hatha yoga (physical practice), raja yoga (control of mind) and bhakti yoga (worship or devotion). The use of mantra is well established in many organized religions.

A well-known example of a mantra is “Hail Mary” used in the Roman Catholic church. The repetition or chanting of mantra is called japa  and can be performed out loud or silently. A rosary (mala) may  help with repetition of the mantra. It has been found that the repetition of sounds have beneficial physiological and psychological effects, so it is not surprising that different religions use similar means. On the level of sound, we know that music can affect different parts of the body and thus so can mantra.

Chanting of mantra especially OM Mantra in yoga brings the telepathy effect. Although all mantra have meanings, the words as sounds alone produce different effects. Every As per Hatha yoga OM mantric word has four levels: first, the sound; second, the meaning which is the ground for concentration; third, the idea which is the ground for meditation; and fourth, the spirit which is the root of it.  As with all yoga practices the purpose is to guide the student towards the infinite and mantra is thus an aid to spiritual enlightenment. Both mantra and yantra (visualization of symbol or image) may be used as transitional  practices to aid concentration (dharana) and thus lead to meditation (dhyana). Patanjali suggests that one should progress from concentration on an object, which perhaps might be described as a mental aid, to concentration on mantra OM. It is a process of successive concentration that Patanjali later describes as “one-pointed’, a total focusing of  all one’s faculties on one object and a progression from concentration to  meditation, when undertaken successfully. It is in aiding concentration that mantra of various types are used.
